LS3MIP: Land Surface, Snow and Soil Moisture Model Intercomparison Project
In the context of
WCPR's Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6), the
Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) and the
Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) are putting forward a joint model intercomparison (and improvement) project. The aims of the Land Surface, Snow and Soil Moisture Model Intercomparison Project (LS3MIP) are:
- Assess the performance of current land surface modules of Earth System Models
- Quantify land surface feedbacks in a changing climate
General information on LS3MIP
List of prioritized variables
Some model centers will not be able to disseminate their data on the ESGF grid until late autumn. Therefore, we may want to distribute some data internally beforehand, concentrating on a subset of variables; please indicate which ones you are interested in. Try to keep this to as few as possible!
Experimental setup
The experimental setup has been simplified and redefined after the initial description in the LS3MIP paper by van den Hurk et al. (2016).
